The 170 is a bit faster and also has bigger brakes. If you enjoy driving and pushing on a bit buy the 170. The 170 CR engine with 4x4 and the good handling of the Yet isi good fun. There is no fuel economy penalty, if anything the 170 seems a little better as you are using full throttle less often.
The Yeti Monte Carlo comes as standard with a new Euro 6 compliant 148bhp, 2.0-litre diesel and four-wheel drive, but you do have the option of a six-speed manual gearbox or a DSG automatic. With the former fitted it costs £24,375, while the automatic is available for £25,485.
The 4.2m-long Yeti is robustly compact, with a near-vertical tailgate and a pleasantly raised (though not high) driving position. Our test car was a pre-production validation model, powered by a
As a first time Skoda buyer coming up to decision time (maybe) whether to upgrade my Yeti (to a 1.2 DSG Elegance) reliability and durability are a concern based on experience so far. I very much like the YETI but it has had a fair amount of trips back to dealer for fixes on top of the recalls and is due back again for more.
Here are the motors and their mileage that we are looking at: 2010 2.0 TDI (140 HP) with 108,000 miles. 2011 1.6 TDI (110 HP) with 93,000 miles. 2016 1.4 TSI (150 HP) with 124,000 miles. All the cars have have been serviced according to the Skoda service plan and the prices are quite similar, however the 2016 Yeti is a tad bit more expensive.
The big selling point for the Yeti is the anticipated build quality and reliability as shown by Skoda over recent years. For company car drivers the Yeti also excels in terms of it's emissions, upon which BIK tax is of course based. Only the Rav4 and X1 are in the same league.
SKODA yeti cars. This boxy SUV is a hugely useful and usable family car, with a wide range of engine and trim combinations to choose from and a deserved reputation for reliability. The Skoda Yeti is a unique-looking model that's rugged and almost toy-like. There's a comfortable interior as well, with plenty of space for backseat passengers.
Skoda Danmark have a two year unlimited distance or four year 100,000 km warranty. They seem to have great success with it - more sales and few claims. Posted 19 March, 2010. In Greece, there is a 2 year factory warranty by default and one can extend it to 4 years and or 60.000km (at the price of 505,00 euros for the 1.2 TSI)
I've re-mapped several petrol and diesel VAG based cars and have found better performance (and fuel economy) in every case, with no obvious reduction in mechanical reliability (over ~200k combined miles). Aside from these 2 negatives I have genuinely enjoyed owning / driving the Yeti and am struggling to find anything equivalent to replace it with.
Skoda Yeti (2009-2017) review - Reliability and Safety No quibbles here; the Yeti is solidly built, safe and has been around for a long time. by: Dean Gibson. 12 Mar 2018. 1. Verdict. 2.
Model: Yeti 170 Elegance. Year: 2013. Posted 23 March, 2020 (edited) There are more important things to worry about ATM, but I'm trying to buy a Yeti Elegance that's advertised on autotrader and Cargurus as a 170, but on the dealer's website as a 140, although they also have a Gen2 170 for sale. Not sure where the sausage fingers have fumbled.
