π Fiat Bravo Gearbox Oil Change
Manual gearboxes usually require a gearbox oil change every 30,000 to 50,000 mi (48,000 to 80,000 km). Automatic gearboxes usually have gear oil change intervals of between 60,000 to 100,000 mi (96,000 to 160,000 km). Itβs advisable that you change your gearbox oil filter at the same time as your oil. If you have a gearbox leak repaired, then
CV boot change; 1. remove wheel trim. 2.slacken drive shaft nut after tapping the two lock tab parts back. You will need a breaker bar! 3. Remove road wheel. 4.Remove track rod ball joint nut & free the ball joint from where it passes through. 5. Undo the lower anti-role bar nut, washer and bush.
This video describes step by step oil change on any twin spark engine found in 147, 156, GT, and GTV models.Oil used: 10W40 Semi-Synthetic made by CommaDiscl
take wheels off. remove exhaust so you have as little as possible from the engine to give you space to work (block exhaust holes on engine with something you cant loose in it) undo hubs from front suspension (2 bolts each side) undo starter motor and remove. drain all gearbox oil. undo gearbox cv boots. remove drive shafts from gearbox.
the oil is there because that pipe is part of the crankcase ventilation system. if it didnt have oil i would be far more concerned. the notchy gearchange into 1st and 2nd isnt unsual with a cold gearbox. try replacing the fluid (use castrol) and add some molylube. it can really make a big difference. slick50 doesnt work so avoid it.
All gearboxes have oil of some description. Back in the 80s/early 90s most Fiat manual boxes used ZC90 oil and recommended it was replace every 36K miles. Later years/gearboxes used more synthetic based oils and oil change periods increased to 70K plus miles. Automatic, Selespeed, Daulogic, etc boxes have different oils/requirements.
353. Location. West Clare. Jan 25, 2020. #5. I found it at my local motor factors, my 2004 1.2 owners' manual states it needs to be 75W-80 to API GL5 (1.65l) It's available on ebay here. The transmission filler plug is 12mm allen key (front of 'box) / drain plug 8mm allen key (rear of 'box) My manual also states just to check level, nothing
Points. 5. Jul 19, 2016. #2. The capacity is 3.1 l by the manual. But if you have harder gear shifting from 2-3 gear like most F40 gearboxes they recoment to put inside 2.4 liters. And when i change oil on mine i put 2.4 liters. The gearbox is F40 so google it. Last edited: Jul 19, 2016.
This guide applies to the Fiat Ducato type X230, mine is model year 2000, second generation, pre-facelift. The 2.8 litre diesel engine is called βidtdβ (Injection Direct Turbo Diesel), non-common-rail, mechanically driven fuel injection system. Engine type code 8140.43 (Sofim). A policy of not changing gear oil is bad . Whatever BMW engineers/etc were thinking of , we dont know. Whatever. gear oil is best changed the sooner the better, usually, the time intervals given are waaaaay too long. your gears will appreciate a new change every 2-3 yrs, or 25-30,000m. Forget the 60-100,000m talk.
1. Drained the gearbox for Mobil "Mobilube 1 SHC 75W-90" (GL-4/GL-5 type) when gearbox was warmed up. 2. Topped up the gearbox with my old TUTELA TRANSMISSION MATRYX oil (GL-4 type) 3. Took the car for a 20 km spin again to rinse/flush the gearbox with the old TUTELA TRANSMISSION MATRYX oil (GL-4 type).
Top tip Use a hose pipe with a cut down nozzle from a tube of silicone sealant taped to the end. (as my hose wouldnt fit into the hole in the geabox) I also warmed up the oil slightly to get it to flow better, then waited for it to cool (i left it until the next day as i wasnt using the car), then topped it up.
